2011 Tour du Haut Var

The 43rd Tour du Haut -Var was a cycling stage race in France, which took place from 19 to 20 February 2011. It was held in two stages over a total distance of 375.8 kilometers. The race was part of the UCI Europe Tour 2011 and classified there in the category 2.1.

The Frenchman Thomas Voeckler of Team Europcar secured the yellow jersey ahead of his compatriot Julien Antomarchi (VC La Pomme Marseille) and Rinaldo Nocentini of AG2R the La Mondiale.

From organizing OCCV Draguignan five ProTeam and Professional Continental nine teams were invited, including the German team NetApp. The starting field of 18 teams was completed by four Continental teams. Stages and race course

The first stage was from the seaside village of La Croix Valmer into the interior, where the destination Grimaud has already happened, from where there are explained the way inland and on the coast. Then, the field moved back to Grimaud. A total of four climbs were on the program, and also the way to the finish led over a two- kilometer climb. Here splintered the field into several groups, but between which were no large gaps. In the sprint for the victory, Samuel Dumoulin (Cofidis, Solutions Crédits ) prevailed over Rinaldo Nocentini of AG2R.

The next day, Draguignan and its surrounding area is frequented in a 207 km long section. Seven increases had to be climbed, with the last pitch was a few kilometers from the finish. Seven kilometers from the finish, the previously very active French national champion Thomas Voeckler ( Europcar ) put together with Julien Antomarchi on the small team VC La Pomme Marseille, where he left the stage win. Voeckler won instead the yellow jersey.
