2012 AFF Suzuki Cup

The ninth edition of the ASEAN Football Championship took place between 22 December 2012 of 24 November. Since 2008 is the official name of the event AFF Suzuki Cup. The group matches were held in Malaysia and Thailand, where the semi-finals and the final were played in home and away matches. Eligible were all Southeast Asian football teams. Smaller nations such as Myanmar or Laos had to first earn the right to start for the final round of a qualifying round. The draw for the finals and the qualifying round was held in Bangkok on July 11.

Qualification

For the tournament in Malaysia and Thailand in addition to the two co-hosts the following nations were directly qualified: Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore and Philippines.

The teams from Laos, Cambodia, East Timor, Brunei and Myanmar had to compete against one another in a qualification first. This was played in a league format to the two still to be awarded places.

The qualifying tournament was held until October 13, 2012 at Yangon, Myanmar on 5.

Final tournament

It was played in each of two groups of four teams. The group winners and runners then met each other in the semi-finals. The winners of the Halbfinalbegenungen then determined the winner of the ASEAN Cup in 2012. The semi-finals and finals were played in home and away matches.

The first legs were held on 12 and 13 December 2012 on 8 and 9 December 2012 the return games.

Final

The first leg was held on December 19, 2012, instead of the return match on December 22, 2012.
