2013 UEFA European Under-17 Championship

The final round of the 31 U-17 Football Championship took place from 5 to 17, 2013 in Slovakia. After the U -21 Football Championship in 2000, it is the second European Football Junior Championships, which took place in Slovakia. She also served as a qualifier for the U-17 World Cup 2013 in the United Arab Emirates. The top six teams qualified for the World Cup.

Qualification

The first qualifying round, except on the host Slovakia attended by all the associations of UEFA, was drawn on November 29, 2011. It started on September 24 2012 and was completed on November 4, 2012.

In the first qualifying round, which took place in mini-tournaments in a respective country, Germany, Switzerland and Austria were able to prevail and reach the Elite round. Germany won all his three games: 5-0 against San Marino, 10:1 against Andorra and 8:1 against host Finland. The Swiss also won their group after a 3-0 win over the Faroe Islands, a 5-1 win against Cyprus and a 1-1 draw against hosts Austria, the Faroe Islands, in turn defeated by 6:0 and 1:1 played against Cyprus and thus debuted at number 2. Liechtenstein failed, however, to Hungary and Italy.

In the elite round, Austria and Switzerland continued as host through in their groups. Austria won two games (1-0 against Serbia and 2-1 against Georgia), after they lost at the start against Ireland 0-1. The Swiss managed two victories ( 2-1 against Israel and a 1-0 win over the Czech Republic ) and a draw ( 0-0 against Poland), which was enough to win the group. Germany was also host group, but two convincing victories ( 5-2 against Bulgaria and 6-0 against Estonia) were not enough for first place, which was won by the Ukrainian players in a direct duel ( 0:1).

Mode

The eight teams were divided into two groups of four teams each. Within the groups played each team once against each other. The group winners and runners reached the semi-finals. Their champion reached the final; Third place was not played. The regular time was twice 40 minutes. From the semi-finals decided at the score is level after regulation time immediately a penalty shootout.

Preliminary round
