2013 UEFA European Under-19 Championship

The final round of the 29 U-19 European Championship took place from July 20 to August 1, 2013 in Lithuania instead.

Qualification

The qualification for the tournament was held in two stages. In the first qualifying round followed by a second, called Elite round, round. Lithuania was directly qualified as hosts.

First qualifying round

The first qualifying round was held between 26 September 2012 and 26 November 2012. Twelve groups of four teams playing in the tournament among themselves for the positions, ie each team played only once against the other three. Each group played their six group games from within a few days, one of the participating countries acted as hosts. The group winners and runners as well as the best group third qualified for the elite round.

The German team played in Group 5, the Games were held in Luxembourg against the local National Team as well as against Macedonia and Ireland. Following significant victories against Macedonia (5:0) and Luxembourg ( 5:0 ) of the two-goal lead was squandered against Ireland and the game ended 2-2. This was enough yet for the group.

The Austrian team played in Group 12 in Hungary, the sovereign with three victories against Andorra ( 9:0 ), Bulgaria ( 2-1) and the hosts (2:1 ) was obtained.

The Swiss team played in Group 9, which fought out their games in Scotland. After a 0-0 draw against Romania, only one 4-0 win against Armenia and a 3:4 defeat against the host could be achieved. Thus, the second place behind group winners Scotland has been reached, which was enough for a place in the elite round.

Elite Round

The elite round was in late May and early June 2013 discharged for similar mode in groups of four, which was in turn a team host. The seven group winners qualified for participation in the final round.

The German team played in Norway in Group 5 after a 3-1 win against Cyprus two defeats came against Norway (1:3 ) and the Netherlands (0-1 ), which was only enough for third place. The Netherlands qualified for the final tournament.

Austria played as hosts in Group 1 After two convincing victories against Bosnia- Herzegovina ( 6-0 ) and Sweden ( 3-0) it came to a final against France, which had also won two games. Due to the better goal difference, a draw for the rise of the Austrians would have been sufficient. However, the French won the game 1-0 and thus qualified for the final tournament.

The Switzerland ended level on points with hosts Serbia and Slovakia in Group 2 than any of these teams scored 4 points. The Swiss played draw against Ireland (2-2 ), then followed a win against Serbia ( 1-0) and a defeat against Slovakia ( 0-2). Because of the worse goal difference Switzerland finished in second place behind group winners Serbia.

Participant

Hosts Lithuania was set as the only team automatically for the finals. Thus, there were seven more places were awarded to the seven group winners in the elite round. The following teams had qualified ( qualification path in brackets):

Venues

The final round of matches were played in three cities in Alytus ( Alytus Stadium ), Kaunas ( S.Dariaus - and - S.Girėno Stadium ) and in Marijampolė ( Arvi arena)

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was played in two groups of four teams. The two group winners and runners-up qualified for the semifinals. In case of equal first chose the direct comparison and then the goal difference over the ranking.

There were another 21 players, each with a goal and an own goal by the Lithuanian Petrauskas in the group game against Portugal.
