( 2157 ) Ashbrook is one of the main asteroid belt, by the German astronomer Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth at Heidelberg State Observatory king chair ( IAU code 024) was discovered in Heidelberg on March 7, 1924.

The asteroid was named after the American astronomer Joseph Ashbrook - named, of well-defined and as editor of the monthly magazine Sky and Telescope provided the rotation period of Mars through analysis of historical records to a few thousandths of a second an important source of information for astronomers ( 1918, 1980).
