31st SS Volunteer Grenadier Division

On October 4, 1944, the SS Main Office ordered the preparation of the 31 SS Volunteer Grenadier Division in Hungary. Under the leadership of SS Oberfiihrer Gustav Lombard was the formation of radicals of the previously resolved 23rd Waffen Mountain Division of the SS "Kama " in the area of the commander of the Waffen- SS Hungary. The division consisted largely of so-called ethnic Germans from Backa, Banat and Transylvania, which had been often forcibly recruited. Similarly, parts of the ethnic Germans in Hungary Heritage Society were incorporated into the Division. Yet incompletely trained and equipped (and therefore not yet operational ) was laying in the room Batina - Mohacs - Bataszek to secure bank of the Danube. As a result of translation of the Red Army heavy battles in which the division was completely shattered in December 1944. Scattered troops met until the 20th of December at the meeting room of the 31st SS Volunteer Grenadier Division west one of Lake Balaton. The next day the SS - FHA possessed the land march in Lower Styria to the reorganization of the division. On February 16, 1945 was issued to them the command to move into the space Görlitz. By May, the division remained in Silesia and began on 6 May 1945, their withdrawal into Czechoslovakia where she went into Soviet captivity in Hradec Kralove.
