( 5232 ) Jordaens is an asteroid of the main belt of the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the Observatoire de Haute- Provence ( observatory code 511) was discovered in southeastern France on 14 August 1988.
The asteroid is named after the Flemish painter of the Baroque Jacob Jordaens (1593-1678), who was a contemporary of Peter Paul Rubens and one of the major historical painters of his time. In addition to his paintings, he was also known for his design of tapestries.
