(55565) 2002 AW197 is an asteroid that is located in the so-called Kuiper belt and, with its diameter of 700 ± 50 km significantly smaller than the dwarf planet Pluto.

Initially it was assumed that (55565) 2002 AW197 an albedo of 0.04 has, since this is a Transneptunisches object. With this assumption has been closed to a diameter of 1,500 km.

However, subsequent studies with the Spitzer Space Telescope provided an albedo value of 0.17 ± 0.03, whereby the diameter had to be corrected to 700 ± 50 km.
