( 68410 ) Nichols is an asteroid of the middle main belt, which on 16 August 2001 by the American astronomer Michael Collins and Minor White at the OCA Anza Observatory ( IAU code 643 ) in Anza, Riverside County, California was discovered.

After FORMING classification (Small Main -Belt Asteroid Spectroscopic Survey) were assumed in ( 68410 ) Nichols of a dark surface with a spectroscopic investigation of Gianluca Masi, Sergio Foglia and Richard P. Binzel, it might be so, roughly speaking, to act a C- asteroids.

( 68410 ) Nichols was named after the actress Nichelle Nichols, who played in the series Star Trek Lieutenant Uhura and later worked with the U.S. space agency NASA. The naming of the asteroid on 19 September 2005.
