7- methylguanosine ( m7G ) is a rare nucleoside and occurs in tRNA, rRNA and mRNA. It consists of the β -D - ribofuranose (sugar) and 7 -methylguanine. It is a derivative of guanosine, which is methylated at the 7- position. It plays a role in the 5 ' cap structure of mRNA and others.
