83 Leonis

2

83 Leonis is a double star system at a distance of about 59 light years. The two components have a distance of about 515 astronomical units.

To the 7.4 may seem somewhat darker of the two components, HD 99492 (83 Leonis B ), two planetary companions were detected. In 2005 published Marcy et al. the discovery of a spectroscopic object with an orbital period of 17 days in a fairly close orbit (about 0.1 AU). The minimum mass of 83 Leonis Bb / HD 99492 b is about 0.1 Jupiter masses. The discovery of another companion with a much larger orbital period of not quite 14 years ( semi-major axis of about 5 AU ) in 2010 by Meschiari et. al. Posted: 83 Leonis Bc / HD 99492 c.
