(8753) Nycticorax

( 8753 ) Nycticorax is a main belt asteroid of the inner, which was discovered on 24 September 1960 by the Dutch astronomer Cornelis Johannes van Houten couple and Ingrid van Houten - Groeneveld. ( 8753 ) Nycticorax is named after the Night Heron, Nycticorax nycticorax whose scientific name is. At the time of designation of the asteroid on February 2, 1999, the night heron was on the Dutch Red List of Threatened Species.
