Aarhus Festuge

Aarhus Festuge ( German Aarhus Festival Week ) is a ten-day arts and culture festival, which takes place in the Danish city of Aarhus annually in late August / early September. According to the organizers, it is one of the largest cultural events in northern Europe, in which the public space, clubs, theaters, galleries and museums serve as venues. Festival Director is the current mayor of Aarhus, respectively; Patron of the Danish Queen Margrethe II.

Aarhus Festuge goes back to an initiative by a city councilor in March 1964, the then mayor Bernhardt Jensen joined. Eighteen months later, in September 1965, the first edition of the festival, which has since become the most important cultural event in the city with international participation.
