Samuel Aaron Altherr ( born January 14, 1991 Landstuhl ) is a German -American baseball player who has been employed since 2009 in the Philadelphia Phillies under contract and playing for their junior teams. In addition, he has already been active for German baseball team.
Life
Aaron Altherr was born in the Palatinate Landstuhl, where his African-American mother was stationed as a member of the U.S. armed forces. His father is the German Frank Altherr, of 86 two games in the 2nd Bundesliga graduated in the season 1985 / for the later first division team FC 08 Homburg. The family moved to the U.S. and was finally settled in Maricopa County in the state of Arizona.
Career
High School
Altherr Agua Fria High School attended in Avondale (Arizona ). There he played in the baseball team mostly on the position of shortstop. Altherr also struck by his great talent in basketball and received from numerous universities, including the University of San Diego and the Southern Methodist University, offers to play basketball for them. He decided, however, to concentrate in his last year of high school solely on baseball.
Philadelphia Phillies
Altherr was selected in the ninth round of the MLB Draft in 2009 by the Philadelphia Phillies. From then on he went through on the position of outfielder whose youth teams and played in the 2013 season for the Clearwater Threshers in the Florida State League. Here he was able to increase his batting average in comparison to previous years and continued with twelve home runs a personal best. He also showed a remarkable run game that resulted in 23 Stolen Bases in 28 attempts, and excellent defensive performance (17 outfield assists). National
Due to its origin Altherr 2012 was eligible to play in the context of the qualifying tournament for the World Baseball Classic in 2013 in Regensburg for the German national team baseball. With strong performances Altherr contributed to the fact that the German team reached the tournament finals, where Canada was beaten. At the end of the tournament was for Altherr after eleven at-bats and six hits (including two homers ) a batting average of 0.545 for beech - the fourth best of all players participating in the qualifying round.
