Abadeh

Abadeh (also: Abadeh, Persian آباده ) is a city in the Iranian province of Fars. The city lies at an altitude of 1889 meters, almost half way between Isfahan and Shiraz. Here lie the settlements of the Turkic-speaking nomadic peoples of the Afshar and Qashqai. An official census of 2006 identified a population of 52 042 inhabitants.

Attractions

The town is known for wood carvings, sesame and castor oils, cereals and fruit.

Also known are the Abadeh carpets, utility carpets of good quality. There are two different motifs in these carpets; that of the more common Hebatlu ( nomadic origin) and that of the Zellol Sultan, whose motive is a vase which shows a bird on both sides, and continues in repeat patterning ( All-over). The formats of the Abadeh are very diverse, ranging from bedside rugs on runners to large carpets of 300 × 200 cm.

Of historical importance are the e Kolah Farangi Emarat, Tymcheh Sarafyan and Khaje grave in the Khoja mountains.
