Abakan Range

The Abakangebirge (Russian Абаканский хребет transcribed Abakanski Chrebet ) is located northeast of Chulyshman lake about 300 km to the northeast extending Mountains in southern Siberia (Russia). It represents the western border of the Minusinsk basin represents as well as the watershed between the Abakan ( tributary of the Yenisei ), Tom ( tributary of the Ob) with its tributary Mras - Su and Lebed ( tributary of the Bija, of a source flow of the Ob).

The average altitude of the mountain range is 1400-1700 meters, its highest point is an unnamed peak of Tschootschek Comb with 1984 meters. On its slopes grow up to about 1700 meters altitude coniferous forest (taiga ), especially white fir, spruce and Siberian stone pine ( "Cedar " ), and above the tree line the mountain tundra.
