Abbot's Palace (Oliwa)

The Äbtepalast Oliva was built from 1754 to 1756. The building was the last Polish abbot of the Cistercian monastery, Jacek Rybiński (1701-1782), donated, as an extension of the established yet in the fifteenth century so-called Old Äbtepalastes.

The building remained unused for a long time, until 1926, the State Regional Museum of History was founded in Gdańsk. 1945 completely burned, the palace was rebuilt in the sixties of the twentieth century, as the seat of the Ethnographic Department of the former Pomeranian Museum. Since 1989, the Department of Contemporary Art at the Gdansk National Museum was set up in the palace.

In the immediate vicinity of the monastery and the Oliwa Cathedral lie.
