Abdallah Schleifer

Suleiman Abdallah Schleifer (actually Marc Schleifer ) ( born 1935 ) is an American poet, journalist, and Professor Emeritus at the American University in Cairo.

Life and work

Grinder grew up in a secular Jewish family on Long Iceland. He studied at the University of Pennsylvania, converted to Islam and turned to Sufism.

Grinder is a Middle East expert and was the head of the Cairo offices of the National Broadcasting Company ( NBC). He interviewed many Middle Eastern leaders, including Ayman Al -Zawahiri, Jordan's King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hamzah. He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter " A Common Word Between Us and You " (English A Common Word Between Us and You), all sent the personalities of Islam leaders of Christian churches in October 2007.

In 2009 he was listed in the list of 500 most influential Muslims of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim- Christian Understanding at Georgetown University and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of Jordan.

He is one of the Senior Fellows of the Royal Aal al - Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought ( Royal Aal Al- Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought ).

He is married to Tayba Hassan Al Khalifa Sharif.
