Abdelmoneim El-Guindi

Abdelmoneim El- Guindi ( born June 12, 1936 in Alexandria, † 17 March 2011) is an Egyptian boxer. He won a bronze medal in the flyweight at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome.

Career

Abdelmoneim El- Guindi learned after joining the Egyptian army boxing. In 1959, he stepped on the international boxing scene first appearance, when he won the flyweight title at the Mediterranean Games in Beirut.

In 1960 he was in Wiesbaden CISM Military World flyweight champion. In the same year he competed in the Olympic Games in Rome and landed there flyweight victory over Robert Bosch from Luxembourg, Paolo Curcetti, Italy and Humberto Barrero from the United States of America. In the semifinals, he lost to Gyula Török from Hungary with 1:4 judges' votes on points and thus won a bronze medal.

In 1961 he won at the CISM World Military Championship in Fort Dix / USA again the flyweight title with a win over the Tunisians Tarhouni. In 1962 he was at the first championship of Africa bantamweight title holder with a victory over the Sudanese Hag.
