Fort Dix

Fort Dix is an American military base in Burlington County, New Jersey. He was named after John Adams Dix 1939. The site houses a large military prison with 3,926 inmates. Since October 1997, above all reservists are trained.

In 1976 there were in the Fort a local outbreak of swine flu.

With the neighboring bases McGuire Air Force Base and Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst in 2005 he was merged to form Joint Base McGuire - Dix- Lakehurst.

2007, a group was condemned by Islamists because they had planned an attack on Fort Dix.
