Abdi Hasan Awale Qeybdiid

Abdi Hasan Awale " Qeybdiid " (* 1948) is a warlord in Somalia's civil war. He belongs to the clan of the Sacad - Habre Gedir - Hawiye.

Under Siad Barre Abdi Qeybdiid was chief of police. After the fall of Barre, he joined the guided Mohammed Farah Aidid of the Somali National Alliance.

2005 Qeybdiid was detained in Sweden, because he had fought against U.S. troops in the early 1990s on the site of Aidid. He was accused of genocide, due to lack of evidence, but he was soon released.

In 2006 he participated in the " alliance for peace and against terrorism" and was involved against the Union of Islamic Courts in the Battle of Bandiradley. Today, he leads the forces of the unilaterally declared independent Galmudug. He is also chief of police of the transitional government in Mogadishu.
