Abdullah, son of Salam

Abd ibn Salām (Arabic: عبد الله ابن سلام, DMG ʿ Abd ibn Salām ), died 43 AH/663-664 AD, was a Jew in Medina, which the Prophet Mohammed joined. The name Abdullah ( servant of God), he received according to the tradition of the prophets occasionally his conversion to Islam. The exact time of this event is controversial: while emphasizing in traditions that are attributed to his descendants, that he was converted before the Hijrah in Mina, it was other traditions According shortly after the Hijrah. A third report dated his conversion to the year 8 AH ( 629/630 AD). General Abd ibn Salām is attributed to the Jewish tribe of Qainuqa, according to a source cited by the Medinan local historian Samhudi, but he belonged to the otherwise unknown tribe of Zayd állat.

In the Islamic tradition Abd Allāh ibn Salām has become a representative of the Jewish scribes Yathribs who affirmatively accepts the mention of his prophecy in the Bible Muhammad's message and have protected him from the intrigues of her former co-religionists.
