Ables Springs, Texas

Ables Springs is a village in the northeast of Kaufman County in the U.S. state of Texas. It lies about 16 kilometers northeast of Terrell on the Farm Road 429

History

Its history begins in 1853 with the couple James W. Ables and Ables Eliza Godfrey. They settled here on a piece of land down the Ables ' father Ezekiel had in 1838 received from the State of Texas, and began to manage the underlying heart of a region of natural sources pastures.

The couple were avowed members of the Methodist Church. In 1878 she transferred about 3.5 hectares of their land to the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and granted her the right to use it for any purpose. The church community where he built a church, a tabernacle and a public school. Part of the land was used to plant a cemetery.

The mid- 1980s, moved to a Baptist church and a congregation of the Church of Christ in Ables Springs. The formerly independent school is now part of the association of schools of Terrell.
