Abraham Duquesne

Marquis II Abraham Duquesne ( du Quesne also ); (* 1604-1610 in Dieppe, † February 1688 in Paris) was a French naval officer who served as admiral of the Swedish Navy.

He was the son of Abraham ( I. ) Duquesne and of Marthe de Caux. 1636 he was employed at the " Neptune " Squadron. 1637 he conquered the island of Lerins Islands by the Spanish. During this time his father died in a conflict with the Spaniards, which he was bitter towards them and called for revenge. He fought them in 1638 at Guetaria, 1639 in Corunna and 1641 in the battles at Tarragona, Barcelona and at Capo de Gata.
