Abrupolis

Abrupolis (Greek Ἀβρουπόλις ) was in the period from before 179 to after 172 BC, a king of the Thracian tribe of the Sapäer.

Abrupolis was recorded after 200 BC under the friends and allies ( amici et socii ) of the Romans. He fell after the death of the Macedonian king Philip V (179 BC) in the territory of his son and successor Perseus a devastated it to Amphipolis and annexed the gold mines of Pangaion. Perseus ' counter-offensive drove him but then out of his kingdom. The Romans did not respond immediately to the disempowerment of their allies. This served them until later (172 BC) as a casus belli against the Macedonians king. They demanded that Perseus had to use his opponent Abrupolis in whose reign again. About the later life and the death of the Abrupolis is no tradition.
