Absolution is the third studio album by British alternative rock band Muse. It was recorded with producer Rich Costey in a studio in Ireland and published in September 2003. With this album the band also reached the charts in the U.S. for the first time.

In contrast to previous albums, the band had during the recording of Absolution no fixed schedule, they were able to leave as much time as they needed to change the songs again and improve.

For example, Apocalypse Please strings were recorded but never used, but rather set to guitar and piano to make the song harder

The first single was ' Stockholm Syndrome' exclusively for download on the official Muse site available. The first regularly released single was ' Time Is Running Out'. Furthermore, the songs ' Hysteria', ' Sing For Absolution' and ' Butterflies & Hurricanes ' as singles were released.

All songs were written by Matthew Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Chris Wolstenholme.
