Hilltop of Abtsrodaer cap ( Hohe Rhön )

The Abtsrodaer tip is a 904.8 m above sea level. NHN high former volcano flank of the water dome, the highest mountain in Hesse and also the highest in the Rhön, a low mountain range in Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia ( Germany ).

Characteristic of the Abtsrodaer Noseleather their rocky and treeless summit, making it popular viewpoint in particular with a view to the north. The tip is used for paragliding.

The Abtsrodaer dome is located in the district of Fulda, in the "Hohe Rhön " approximately 740 m north-northeast of the water dome. It is part of the nature reserve Rhön and at the same time the Rhön biosphere reserve.

The hilltop northwest feet is approximately 1.15 km Abtsroda (municipality part of the south-west to Poppenhausen ), followed directly west whose district adjoins Sieblos. North past the tip leads in the provincial road "L 3068 " section Abtsroda - water crest of Hochrhön ring.

Watershed

About the Abtsrodaer crest runs a part of the Fulda- Werra- watershed. Flowing waters, which extend from the crest to the west, flowing through the streams Haardt and Lütter and the Fulda River in the Weser River, extending northward flowing streams of the brooks Plain water, fire Bach and Ulster as well as the river Werra also into the Weser.
