Abu Ghraib
Abu Ghraib (Arabic أبو غريب Abu Ghraib, DMG Abū Ġurayb, locally Abu Ghraib Abu Ghrēb; sometimes spelled Abu Ghraib Abu Gharaib or ) is an Iraqi city that borders west of Baghdad and belongs to the province of Baghdad. The population is between 750.000 and 1,5 million.
The city is located north-northwest of the international airport of Baghdad at the height of the old city center on the old road to Jordan.
The notorious Abu Ghraib prison has made the city known in the time of Saddam Hussein. In 2004, the torture scandal attracted international attention in the now conducted by the U.S. Army prison.
