Abu Musa Ashaari

Abū Mūsā al - Ash ʿ arī (Arabic أبو موسى الأشعري, DMG Abū Mūsā al - ʿ Aš arī † 662 or 672 ) was a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and an important figure in the early history of Islam.

He was governor of Basra and Kufa and was involved under the Caliph Umar ibn al - Khattab in the conquest of Persia. He also considered the founder of basrischen Koran tradition. His Koran reading, which prevailed for some time in Basra, was based on a separate Quran Code, the so-called al - Lubāb Qulūb. Among the peculiarities of his Koran reading was that he spoke the name of Ibrāhīm at all points of the Koran as Ibraham. When the third Caliph Uthman ibn Affan sent his official text of the Koran in Iraq, he should have been ready in contrast to ʿ Abd Allāh ibn Mas ʿ ūd to align his Koran Code to the official text of Uthman.
