Académie Mallarmé

Académie Mallarmé is a literary association that was founded in 1937 by a group of letters. As a patron of this association we chose the writer Stéphane Mallarmé (1842-1898), who was an important representative of Symbolism.

From its foundation in the Académie Mallarmé also gives the Prix Mallarmé; first winner was Jacques Audiberti. Currently (2013 ) the prize is worth 3,800 Euros and is a respected prize for poetry. The price in Brive- la -Gaillarde is awarded periodically at the annual book festival ( Foire du Livre de Brive ).

The founding members also invited Paul Claudel (1868-1955), André Gide (1869-1951) and Francis Jammes (1868-1938) one to join them, but they refused membership.
