Accentus

The Accentus ( reading style) is next to the Concentus the second major style in Gregorian chant.

It is used for readings of the Gospel in the context of Psalmodierens etc.. The very simple melodies are formed according to predetermined formulas (Melody models) for the beginning, middle caesura, etc. on the basis of the text, in which large parts are sung on the same syllabic sound.
