Accordion Tribe

The Accordion Tribe is an international accordion group, which was founded in 1996 in Ghent and still exists today.

Band History

In May 1996, decided five accordion players from five countries to create an ensemble; this brought the artist the special features when using the instrument in their respective cultures and developed them further in a modern direction. After a three day trial, they gave a concert in Ghent Vooruit and after its success, she then went for three weeks on tour through North and Central Europe. Recordings of these concerts have been compiled and published in 1997 as a CD entitled Accordion Tribe.

The original project initiator Guy Klucevsek presented in the spring of 1998, a similar project under the name Four Accordions of the Apocalypse for some European gigs together, but at the end of May, the original line-up got together again and formed a permanent ensemble. In addition to tours and performances outside of Europe the group in 2002 and 2006 participated in Lars Hollmer 's Chicken House studio in Uppsala two more albums. The third album called Lunghorn Twist was named in Songlines magazine's "Top of the World" Chart.

Film

Accordion Tribe: Music Travels is a German documentary about the band, which was produced by Maximage in Switzerland. For written and directed by Stefan Schwietert was responsible. The premiere was in 2004. A year later, this film won the Swiss Film Prize for best documentary and the documentary prize at the International Film Weekend in Würzburg. This film presents the life of the band in everyday life and in the concerts, he also shows each member in his home country.
