Acherkogel

Acherkogel from northwest

The Acherkogel is a 3007 m above sea level. A. high peaks, the northern three-thousand Tyrol. He is the dominant mountain above the town of Oetz in Oetztal valley, where high rock faces to the northwest and southwest reach down. To the west leads down a sharp ridge to Achplatte ( 2423 m) and Habicher wall ( 2176 m ), another ridge goes towards the northeast to 2894 m high Maningkogel. To the southeast of Acherkogel sends a sharp ridge to the 2954 m high Wechnerkogel. In essence, the Acherkogel has the character of a rock summit, only on the north and east, there are small snowfields.

Was first climbed Acherkogel on August 24, 1881 by Ludwig Purtscheller. His companion Franz Schnaiter remained on a wall stage.

Way to the summit

  • The northern flank ( UIAA II) was first celebrated by Otto Melzer in 1893 and is now considered normal route. As a base usually is the Bielefeld Hut.
  • The northeast ridge ( UIAA III, K. Mallet, 1924) leads from the saddle between Acherkogel and Maningkogel to the summit and is considered the finest increase. Most of Maningkogel is coming exceeded by Mezzo in the course of this journey. The starting point for this route is mostly Kuehtai or Mittergrathütte.
  • The south ridge ( UIAA II, F. Hörtnagl / H. Schmotzer, 1899) is most often committed by the Dortmunder hut. Close this route also passes the no longer committed way the first ascent.
  • The southwest flank ( UIAA II, F. Gstrein / F. Lantschner / Pfaundler 1891) was earlier than the normal route, but is committed rare today.

Further increases are rather insignificant

  • The south-east wall ( UIAA V, P. Schill ride / N. Raich, 1975),
  • The west ridge ( UIAA III, F. Lantschner, 1893) and
  • The north-western wall to the west ridge (F. Lantschner, 1921)
