Fernleaf Yarrow (Achillea filipendulina )

The Fernleaf Yarrow (Achillea filipendulina, Syn: .. . Tanacetum angulatum Willd, Achillea eupatorium M.Bieb, A. ficifolia M.Bieb, Tanacetum angular Willd. ), Also Farnblättrige Yarrow, Yarrow High, High Garbe, gold yarrow or misleading also called Yellow yarrow, a plant of the genus is the yarrow (Achillea ) in the sunflower family ( Asteraceae).

Description

Achillea filipendulina is a perennial herbaceous plant. In gardens encountered cultivated varieties such as ' Parkers' and ' Coronation Gold' reach stature heights between 70 and 150 cm, the wild form of about 70 to 120 cm. The pinnate leaves are 10-20 cm long and 3-7 cm wide, with 0-5 cm long, widened at the base of stems.

The scheindoldige inflorescence consists of many basket- shaped part inflorescences in which there are long each 15 to 30 2 to 2.5 mm tubes and two to four florets. The gold sheaf has, as well as some other species of the genus Achillea, yellow flowers (which are also a few pink to red breeding forms). It blooms from June to September.

In other milfoil species, such as the Goldquirlgarbe, it is easy to get confused.

Dissemination and locations

The gold sheaf is naturally spread in the Caucasus and the Middle East. It prefers sunny locations, permeable as well as sandy and loamy soils. It is quite undemanding, also cultivated forms do not necessarily need human care, which is why they quickly become overgrown gardens.
