Adalbert Steiner

Adalbert Steiner ( born January 24, 1907 in Timişoara, Austria - Hungary, † December 10, 1994 ) was a Romanian football player at the position of the defender. In order to avoid confusion with his surname cousin Rudolf Steiner, he was led into the Romanian sports press as Steiner II.

Career

Steiner began his career in his hometown at Unirea Timişoara. In 1922 he moved to local rivals Chinezul Timişoara, with whom he was between 1925 and 1927 are three times in a row Romanian champions. In the season 1929/30, Steiner played for CA Timişoara, with which really did not only occupy the fourth rank in the regional championship.

National

Steiner played a total of 10 games for the Romanian national football team, but without the possibility to score a goal. He made his debut on May 7, 1926 against Turkey. Steiner was nominated for the FIFA World Cup in Uruguay in 1930. There he came only in the clash against Romania Peru used, retired in this game but a broken leg and then ended his career. Steiner was a member of the victorious Romanian team at the Balkans Cup 1929-31. There he was employed in the games against Yugoslavia and Greece.
