Adam Stanisław Grabowski

Adam Stanislaus called Grabowski ( born September 3, 1698 Great Butzig ( Buczek Wielki ), † December 15, 1766 in Heilenberg ) was from 1741 to 1766 Prince-Bishop of Warmia. 1766 Ignatius Krasicki was appointed Coadjutor Bishop Stanislaus.

Life

Stanislaus came from a family from the villages Götz Dorff and Grabau (formerly Gotzendorff czu Grabow ). His mother was a von Kleist. Finally, the family name as Götz Dorff - Grabowski was known.

On November 26, 1730, he was ordained in the Archdiocese of Gniezno a priest. On June 22, 1733 as Auxiliary Bishop in Poznan and ordered at the same time as Titular Bishop of Nilopolis. He was consecrated on 18 August 1733. On September 26, 1736, he was appointed Bishop of Kulm and on July 15, 1739 to the bishop of Cujavia. To the Prince-Bishop of Warmia ordered on April 14, 1741, confirmed on 18 September 1741 by Pope Benedict XIV and installed in his diocese on 8 December in 1741.

He received from the Emperor the order to create a detailed map of Warmia. This map with all the places in the Warmia or Warmia in Prussia was made by Johann Friedrich Endersch in Elbing. The Duchy of Prussia from Endersch as Borussiae Orientalis ( East Prussia ) was designated on this map. This name was officially introduced later by Frederick II for the eastern Prussia.
