Adaptogen

Adaptogen is an alternative medical term for herbal preparations and drugs that are intended to help the organism to adapt to stressful situations and have a positive effect on stress-induced diseases. Similar names are rejuvenating agent, and ( in Ayurveda ) Rasayana. The body and the immune system to be adapted to the stress, so adapted. The Russian researcher Nicolai Vasilevich Lazarev coined the term in 1958. Adaptogens are to be equipped with completely non-toxic and wider positive effect.

Examples of plant, where such effects are attributed, are ginseng, Morinda citrifolia ( Noni ), Shiitake, Reishi / Ling Zhi, Maitake, Grifola frondosa, almond mushroom, Schisandra, Rhodiola, Ashwaganda ( Withania somnifera ), Tulsi, Jiaogulan, Maca, Kalmegh and marijuana.
