Adeimantus (son of Leucolophides)

Adeimantus (Greek Ἀδείμαντος ), son of Leukolophides, was an Athenian general, a close friend of Alcibiades and trailers oligarchic order.

Together with Alcibiades Adeimantus was 415/14 BC embroiled in the mysteries process and then banished; his goods were confiscated. In the following years he probably remained in Alcibiades, he may escorted to Sparta and Ionia. Busy is the close connection even through the appointment of Adeimantus for strategists who Alcibiades prevailed in the summer of 408, immediately after his rehabilitation and return to Athens. In the winter of 408/407 Adeimantus therefore appears next to Alcibiades and the experienced strategist Aristocrates as an expedition against the breakaway island of Andros. In the second flight of Alcibiades in the spring of 407 he did not follow his patron.

After the battle of the Arginusae Adeimantus was 406 BC again - along with Conon, Tydeus, Menander and Philocles - elected strategists. Since the Athenians had previously executed almost all experienced generals or driven into exile, the new strategists College was the last contingent, in which only Conon had sufficient experience in naval warfare. After the Athenian defeat in the Battle of Aigospotamoi in 405 BC came Adeimantus in Spartan captivity. In criminal court the winner he was released from Lysander the only Athens because he had voted in the Attic army assembly is the only one against a motion of Philocles, after the Spartan prisoners the right hand ( or right thumb ) was chop off so they do not continue to fight could. Philocles and the other Athenian prisoners were executed.

In Athens, these changes resulted in an indictment against Adeimantus because you slandered him and accused him of betraying the fleet at Aigospotamoi. A conviction is not handed, so he probably could save himself.
