Adélie Land

Adélie Land (French Terre Adélie ) is from November 21, 1924 by France claimed and defined in its borders on April 1, 1938 part of Antarctica. These claims, however, are exposed to internationally by the undersigned by France Antarctic Treaty.

History

Adélie Land was discovered on January 20, 1840 by the Frenchman Jules Dumont d' Urville, who named it after his wife, Adélie. Since 1955 it belongs to the territory of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands.
