Adenitis

Adenitis means inflammation of a gland. (Greek αδένας adenas gland -itis ending for an inflammatory disease). Since lymph nodes were historically referred to as lymph glands, also contain the name for inflammation of the lymph nodes often part of the name adenitis or specially lymphadenitis.

The most common inflammation of the glands are bacterial, viral or autoimmune- related.
