Adenylosuccinate lyase

Adenylosuccinate lyase ( ASASE ) (also: Adenylosuccinase ) is an enzyme in all organisms that catalyzes two chemical reactions in the metabolism of purines: the cleavage of fumarate of 5 - aminoimidazole - 4-N- succino -carboxamide ribonucleotides ( SAICAR ) at the de novo synthesis of inosine monophosphate (IMP ); and in the synthesis of adenylosuccinate from adenosine monophosphate ( AMP). The man expressed ASASE in all tissue types. Mutations in the ADSL gene are responsible for Adenylosuccinase deficiency, a rare genetic disease.

Catalyzed reactions

From SAICAR fumarate is cleaved, AICAR produced.

From adenylosuccinate fumarate is cleaved, AMP is produced.
