Adenylosuccinate synthase
- OMIM: 612 498
- UniProt: Q8N142
The adenylosuccinate synthase ( also according to IUBMB: IMP -aspartate ligase ) is the enzyme that catalyses the combination of IMP and aspartate to adenylosuccinate. This reaction is part of the de novo synthesis of AMP ( metabolism of purines ) in all living things. In man, as in other vertebrates, there are two in the muscles and the liver isolated isoforms are encoded by the genes and ADSSL ADSS.
Catalyzed reaction
GTP GDP Pi
IMP and aspartate are ligated with the consumption of GTP.
