Adjustment handles

As handles are referred to those controls graphical user interfaces which are used on the screen for the manipulation of vector graphic elements. Also inserted raster graphics are handled by vector graphics applications such as vector objects.

When clicking on an object appear at the corners of four small squares or each in the middle between two vertices each another small square.

The squares indicate first that the object is selected. Therefore, it can be copied using menu commands, duplicated, cut or deleted.

With the help of these squares, the object can also be scaled. When it is pressed when clicking the grip tab Shift and kept when scaling, the object is automatically scaled proportionally.

A special function (Magic stretch) in the scaling of raster graphics containing the Montierprogramm PageMaker. If you scale by means of the handle the Control key ( Microsoft Windows) or the Command key is pressed and held (Apple Macintosh), the raster image is scaled depending on the selected printer so that rasterization problems are avoided by Moiré effects.

In FreeHand or Adobe Illustrator and other vector graphics programs, further modifications may be carried out on the handles application- internal objects. The handles act there as a limit point of lines, so simple shapes (rectangles or polygons ) can be changed in shape. It is possible to extract from these handles another handle, which realize the harsh change of line orientation per handle by Bezier curves.
