Admiral Freebee

Admiral Freebee ( b. 1974 in Antwerp as Tom Van Laere ) is a Belgian singer-songwriter. He plays guitar, piano and harmonica. With his first four albums, he finished each ranked one of the Belgian charts.

Name

Admiral Freebee is the name of a sunken in the San Francisco Bay ship passing through the novel " On the Road " - was known Road by Jack Kerouac. Van Laere adapted this name as his pseudonym under which it occurs and published plates. The booklet of his CD's call as a musician and songwriter his actual name Tom Van Laere.

Biography

Van Laere comes from Brasschaat, a municipality in the metropolitan area of Antwerp. He began his career as a tennis player. As he posed one day before the mirror, he turned the club around, called " guitar " and devoted himself henceforth to the works of Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Hank Williams. When Admiral Freebee 2000 he took part in Humo 's Rock Rally, one taking place every two years in junior competition in Belgium. There he won the silver medal of the jury and the audience award. He received a recording contract with Universal and released his first album in 2003, Admiral Freebee, which stood for one week at the top of the Flemish part of the Belgian charts. The song was released in 2005 and titled successor was two weeks number one. His third album, Wild Dreams of New Beginnings followed in 2006 and also stood two weeks at the top position. The recordings took place, among others, in Kingston, New York and Nashville, Tennessee. The Coming of the Knight piece is a duet with American country singer Emmylou Harris. Since July 2008, the " bearded bard ( from Brasschaat ) " working on the recordings of his fourth LP.
