Adolf Dux

Adolf Dux ( born October 25, 1822 in Bratislava, † November 29, 1881 in Budapest) was Hungarian- German writer.

Adolf Dux graduated in Bratislava legal studies and entered even during the same career as a writer. He died on 20 November 1881 in Budapest, where he had lived almost continuously since 1855.

Dux was the first to Sándor Petofi with the translation of a small band of selected poems (Vienna 1847) in the German literature introduced. He also translated the Hungarian tragedy Bank Bàn József Katona (Leipzig 1858) and numerous other seals in verse and prose, such as József Eötvös Carthusians ( 7th ed Vienna 1878). An original works he published some short stories as German - Hungarian (Vienna, 1871), among others, partly literary and cultural historical studies under the title appeared collected from Hungary (Leipzig 1880).
