Adolfo Saldías

Adolfo Saldías (December 6, 1849 in Buenos Aires, † October 17, 1914 in La Paz, Bolivia ) was an Argentine historian, lawyer, soldier, politician and diplomat.

Biography

1875 Saldías began with his work as a lawyer. During this time he wrote his thesis on the Bourgeois marriage ( original: Matrimonio Civil ). He began his political career in the party Partido Autonomous Paulista de Buenos Aires, which was then headed by Adolfo Alsina. This party was then cleaved significantly by Bartolomé Mitre, among others, so that the Unión Cívica Radical arose.

Adolfo Saldías actively participated in the Park Revolution of 1890 in Argentina; he was with his friend Leandro Alem one of the first to enter the arena. As a member of the Unión Cívica Radical he also took part in the revolution of 1893.

In 1898 he was appointed Minister of Construction of the State of Argentina, four years later he was elevated to the office of Lieutenant Governor of Buenos Aires.
