Adrian Le Roy

Adrian Le Roy (* 1520 in Montreuil, † 1598 in Paris) was a French lutenist, composer and music publisher.

He came from a merchant family and founded in 1551 in Paris with his cousin Robert Ballard a music publishing, as its musical director, he acted. In a short time he came to the top of Parisian society, and met in the salons of Paris many other artists of his time. He frequented the court of King Charles IX. where he was an influential adviser in musical matters. In this way he had a considerable influence on the musical taste in France.

He was a friend of Orlando di Lasso and put this close, to come to Paris.

In the 1540s he had married the daughter of the Parisian publisher Jean de Brouilly, Denise, but his wife died back in the 1560s.
