Adrian Leo Doyle

Adrian Leo Doyle AM ( born November 16, 1936 in Hobart ) is Emeritus Archbishop of Hobart.

Life

Doyle was born in 1936 in Hobart as one of three children. He attended St Mary's College in Hobart, Sacred Heart College, New Town, and the also located in Hobart St Virgil 's College, before he began his studies at Corpus Christi College in Werribee on March 1. September 1956 Doyle moved to the College of Propaganda Fide in Rome, and was ordained by Cardinal Grégoire -Pierre Agagianian on 20 December 1961 priests. After Doyle 1965 received at the Pontifical Gregorian University, his doctorate in canon law, he returned a little later in the same year to Tasmania back.

1973 to 1998 he was chaplain in the Italian community in Hobart. Pope John Paul II appointed Doyle on 10 February 1997 on the Coadjutor Bishop of Hobart. On February 6, 1998, he received episcopal consecration by Archbishop Joseph Eric D' Arcy. After Pope John Paul II had accepted the resignation of Archbishop D' Arcy, Doyle was on 26 July 1999, his successor as Archbishop of Hobart. His inauguration took place at St Mary's Cathedral on August 26. In the Australian Bishops Conference, he held several important positions.

On July 19, 2013 Pope Francis took his on the grounds of age pre- mounted resignation.
