The name origin Affelns is most likely the words to write back "on the Lenne ". This language expresses clearly that the place Affeln against the Lenne has been markedly higher. This plays straight to the fact that it is said that the Lenne the Sauerland separates from the Sauerland, so Affeln is on the side of the Sauerland. From the Low German " Affelenn ", which means " on the Lenne ", later became " Affeln ".
