Affing House

The Affing Castle is a former moated castle at the Schlossplatz 1 in Affing, a municipality in the Swabian district Aichach- Friedberg. As it was Hofmarkschloss manor of Hofmark Affing. The castle is a listed building.

History

1040 Lords of Affing are first mentioned. The Hofmark Affing belonged since the 14th century very often changing owners. 1682 was the possession of the Baron von Leyden and 1816 sold Graf Maximilian Anton von Leyden Hofmark Affing to Karl Ernst von Gravenreuth. Also the castle estate Iglhof went over in his possession.

At the site of the present castle was previously a castle that was built burned down in 1462 by Margrave Albrecht Achilles of Brandenburg and Wolfgang von Waldeck († 1483 ) again. Johann Baptist Freiherr von Leyden ( electoral Vice Chancellor to Munich) had built a new castle from 1694. It was destroyed by fire in 1928 and rebuilt by Oswald Bieber in the original form.

Specifications

The three-storey building with a tent roof and dormer has a narrow central projection. The portal is decorated with a carved wooden door from 1777. At the palace is a walled castle park closes at where there is also the Orangerie building from the 19th century.
